QSR Magazine: Chipotle’s Burger Concept, Tasty Made, Opens Oct. 27

The Mexican fast food brand will be opening a second concept focused on burgers and fries made with high-quality ingredients.

Chipotle is broadening its horizons and thinking outside of Mexican with a new restaurant concept. According to a recent QSR Magazine article, Chipotle Mexican Grill is opening its first Tasty Made Burger on October 27 in Lancaster, Ohio. The restaurant serves burgers, fries, and shakes only, which are made with high-quality ingredients. The catch--although it’s higher quality than typical fast food, it won’t result in higher prices for consumers.

Steve Ells, founder, chairman and co-CEO of Chipotle explained that Tasty Made values will reflect those of Chipotle. Quality ingredients plus fast service and customized orders will set Tasty Made apart from other burger chains. “Each order is sent to an advanced queuing system that uses heads-up visual cues so that the team can cook and serve the food very quickly. This is in stark contrast to typical fast food burger chains where frozen burger patties are usually cooked ahead of time and held until later, at which time they are assembled,” said Ellis.

Responsibly Raised beef that is not frozen but fresh will be used for the grilled-to-order burgers. Hand-cut fries twice fried will be the perfect side to the fresh to made burger. Even the shakes have only a few real ingredients you’ve actually heard of—milk, sugar, cream, eggs and vanilla make up the vanilla shake.

“Tasty Made burgers are exactly the kind of burger I would make at home,” said James Beard Foundation Award winning chef and Tasty Made developer Nate Appleman. “Even the bun is made from just a few ingredients with no dough conditioners, sweeteners, or preservatives found in other hamburger buns. The result is an absolutely delicious burger that’s made very, very quickly.”
