Grubhub, DoorDash, Postmates and Uber Eats Sued Over Restaurant Fees
Three customers in New York City filed a class action lawsuit against the third-party delivery companies.
Grubhub, DoorDash, Postmates and Uber Eats have all been named in a class action lawsuit filed by three New York City customers on Monday, reports Reuters.
The suit alleges that each of the third-part delivery companies violated U.S. antitrust laws by requiring that restaurants charge the same price for dine-in and delivery despite charging those restaurants “exorbitant” — 10–40 percent — for order processing.
The suit claims that to meet these requirements, restaurants are forced to charge higher prices for all customers, even those who don’t use the apps.
The lawsuit arrives just days after San Francisco capped commission fees charged to restaurants by third-party delivery apps to 15 percent, a move GrubHub is asking customers to oppose.
