Compassion and Awareness are Key in Helping Loved Ones With Alzheimer's

The Riverdale Press discusses how families can help their loved ones who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

November is Alzheimer's Awareness Month.

According to the Riverdale Press, Alzheimer's is a serious disease that is sadly common, impacting 5.5 Million Americans. Right at Home, a senior and disabled adult in-home care brand, has been able to assist families in Riverdale for years by providing expert in-home care services to families with loved ones suffering from Alzheimer’s.

Enrie Morales, owner of Right at Home in the Bronx, is certified by the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners to provide Alzheimer's, dementia and cognitive support. Her mother also suffers from Alzhiemer’s, so she knows first hand how difficult it is to see a loved one suffering from the disease. The key to expert care? Treating each patient as an individual.

“We treat each person as an individual because dementia is different in how the person reacts,” Morales told the Riverdale Press. “While one person might feel a lot of anxiety because they’re alone, another person might feel anxiety because they’re being paid too much attention to, and the family is always on top of them.”
