Dairy Queen* Launching New Single Blizzard for Valentine’s Day
This February 14, singles can enjoy a new treat from Dairy Queen. The company wants fans to #BreaktheCliche for Valentine’s Day this year with the new Singles Blizzard Treat. The new ice cream treat features salted caramel truffles, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and peanut butter topping blended with signature DQ soft serve. For those partnered up ice cream fans, the brand is also offering the DQ Red Velvet Blizzard Cupid Cake featuring vanilla soft serve blended with red velvet cake pieces and cream cheese frosting as a shared treat.


Q4 Earnings Up for Yum Brands
Amid Yum Brands global expansion, the company has reported the brand’s fourth-quarter earnings have beat expectations and sales grew among all of Yum’s divisions. This growth comes as the brand has opened more locations and kept up momentum at their existing restaurants. While the Q4 earnings are up, Pizza Hut locations in China haven’t been fairing very well. Yum is planning on spinning off the China division of the company later this year. Outside of China, same-store sales for KFC are up 3 percent, Pizza Hut grew 1 percent, and Taco Bell is up 4 percent.


Subway to Sell $6 Footlong Subs
This February, Subway will be selling all of the brand’s Classic Footlong subs for $6 each through the end of the month. This new campaign is a nod to the successful $5 Footlong campaign launched in 2008, however, this time with a slightly higher price point for consumers. This is part of a trend in quick-service restaurants to use discounts to increase customer traffic in-store.


Order Domino’s with Amazon Echo
Just in time for the Big Game this Sunday, Domino’s fans will now be able to place their pizza order through Amazon Echo, a wireless speaker and voice command device from Amazon.com. The new partnership allows fans to track their delivery and place their most recent order using Easy Order through the Amazon Echo. This marks the eighth platform in the suite of AnyWare technology for fans to order pizza.


The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Names CFO
Jess Harris has recently been appointed CFO of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. Harris is a veteran finance executive with nearly 30 years of experience. In this role, Harris will oversee all financial functions including the supply chain, human resources, risk management and legal teams. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf currently has over 1,000 stores, with plans to open 700 more over the next decade.
