As coronavirus restrictions and social distancing guidelines get further in the rearview mirror, many in-person events started back up again this year. While Zoom prevailed for the better part of 2020 and 2021, face-to-face meetups have returned. One event where the invaluable nature of networking was on display this year is the Multi-Unit Franchising Conference (MUFC).

This week, the conference was highlighted by Entrepreneur as the #2 franchise trade show that shouldn't be missed. Franchising.com also did a piece this week about this year’s show, held in the spring in a new 550,000-square-foot venue at Las Vegas’ Caesars Forum.

Next year’s Multi-Unit Franchising Conference dates were also recently announced to take place in the same location from April 25 to April 28, 2023.

Chairman Gary Robins, a multi-unit franchisee with Supercuts, released a statement saying, “The MUFC brings together more resources in one place than you can find anywhere else… There is no other event where you will find as many opportunities for new brands to grow your business for the future. Next year’s event promises to bring you hundreds of the most innovative, established, and fastest-growing franchise opportunities available today.”

Powerhouses from multiple brands show up to the event. This year, 600 franchisees that own 16,500 units and are responsible for over $11 billion in revenue were there. Over half of the attendees own two or more brands, and 60% have more than ten units. Over 75% of those that attended were open to growing with new brands.

And in addition to networking, a number of breakout sessions and talks were hosted by keynote speakers. This year, NFL running back Emmitt Smith gave a great speech about entrepreneurship. Attendees also experience activities like golfing, bowling and networking at the casinos.

“This is one of my favorite conferences to come to,” Dawn LaFreeda, a multi-unit Denny’s operator, told Franchising.com. “I especially love the trade show, and I love the speakers and the panels. I think it’s just a great show.”
