Adweek: KFC Responds to U.K. Chicken Shortage Scandal With a Timely ‘FCK, We’re Sorry’

The fried chicken brand turned the disaster into a creative publicity stunt.

Earlier this week it was reported that all KFC restaurants in the U.K. ran out of chicken due to "operational issues". Today, Adweek shared how the fried chicken brand turned the issue into a creative stunt, sharing a photo of their famous chicken bucket with their letters rearranged to read "FCK."

Founder and group managing director of Frank PR Andrew Bloch tweeted that the apology was a “masterclass in PR crisis management,” while other marketers and fans alike tweeted in praise of the brand’s apology.

The brand also created a website to help fans find the closest open store.
