AWATfit: Improve Mood and Increase Energy With Outdoor Workouts
The fast-growing fitness brand utilizes a customized truck to bring a personalized workout to members, any place and any time.
Created in 2019 for those lacking the access or desire to visit a gym, AWATfit (All Weather All Terrain Fitness) brings all the necessary equipment and a trainer to the customer’s driveway, the woods, the beach or wherever they fancy. AWATfit centers around founder Rich Decker's truck, with the help of his two sons and a friend (a professional customizer) outfitted with 20 workout stations, including bungee runs, TRX, Gorilla Bow, HELM, weighted ropes and balls, pull-up bars and more. With AWATfit, Decker has utilized his expertise to create an innovative and revolutionary fitness concept.
After three decades of indoor and outdoor workouts, private training and owning gyms, Decker realized that staring at a wall using machines and lifting weights just don’t provide the results that people truly want. Knowing there are more effective ways to achieve results, Decker advocates for a personalized workout regimen that utilizes the elements of suspension, gravity, resistance and strength training. Decker’s expertise has allowed him to perfect this workout regimen and, with AWATfit, he is able to bring that experience to customers with a completely mobile gym.
AWATfit stands out from the competition in the fitness segment by combining two things that nearly everyone enjoys: a great workout and the great outdoors.
“Whether you’re a professional athlete or just trying to get some exercise in after work, the one thing that everyone hates about going to the gym is the environment — running in place, staring at walls, and now germs,” said Decker. “When you exercise outdoors, your energy and mood increase automatically, but most people don’t have access to a full set of gym equipment outside.”
AWATfit offers just that, bringing a fully loaded mobile gym built out of the back of a 20-foot pickup truck directly to clients. Bars extend from the truck’s roof and a support system anchors speakers and auxiliary weights. Ropes hang from the tow hitch, resistance bands attach to the footsteps below the cab and harnesses dangle from a beam providing opportunities for aerial exercises. Every piece of equipment is informed by Decker’s decades of experience.
“The 20 stations (and their correlating bodyweight and resistance exercises) address everything from strength to flexibility, stability, agility and cardiovascular health to give the ultimate one-on-one training experience,” said Decker. “Forget machine-based workouts – the emphasis at AWATfit is that ‘U R The Machine.’”
Recurring classes can be booked through a monthly membership, which is offered in three different packages: Silver, Gold and Platinum. Group workout sessions can be reserved for $40 per person, though they are currently limited to eight people to guarantee six feet of separation between participants. Under usual circumstances, Decker can host classes with 20 or more attendees. Also, AWATfit offers group training packages where the group can reserve the truck with the trainer. For this service, AWATfit is waiving the rental fee in response to COVID-19.
Although developed prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, flexible fitness solutions like Decker's are more relevant than ever. AWATfit provides customers the option to work out in a manner that is compliant with any local social distancing constraints and makes them feel safe.
“With so much fear and uncertainty around the spread of coronavirus, there is no longer a need to go to a germ-infested brick-and-mortar gym,” said Decker. “We’ve always offered members an innovative workout experience, but now, AWATfit is becoming a pioneer in the new age of physical fitness.”
