Checkers & Rally's in Gainesville has closed for the week for a major renovation, updating the design and streamlining operations for hungry area French fry lovers. The remodel will eliminate one drive thru and expand the patio, while maintaining key elements of Checkers & Rally's branding. The company is beginning these renovations with this Gainesville location because it's been open more than 20 years, has shown sales growth and could accommodate December construction work due to the Florida weather. It also doesn't hurt that Checkers & Rally's CDO Jennifer Durham has a special connection to Gainesville- she fell in love with the brand while a student at University of Florida.
