My co-partner in this business is my sister Lindsay Keyser, and a lot of her background was in marketing for large agriculture and tech firms.”Despite professional success, something was missing. “Our dad has always been an entrepreneur — we grew up around parents that took risks and pursued something different than working a nine-to-five,” Yobo said. “When we graduated college, both of us were college athletes. We loved highly competitive environments. When you meet someone, you get that gut feeling. Then you look at their track record and know they’ll have your back.”For Yobo and Keyser, the alignment was clear. “The DRYMedic Team genuinely cared about us being successful,” she said. “The better we do, the better they do.”<h2>Learning Fast and Growing Through the Chaos</h2>The sisters officially opened their DRYmedic location in February 2024 — and immediately faced a trial by fire.“In our first year, we had three large hurricane storms hit our city,” Yobo said. “<a href="https://1851franchise.com/drymedic-restoration/drymedic-restoration-franchise-opportunity-2731012">In restoration, it ended up being a great first year</a>.”The transition, however, wasn’t easy. “Going from being in suits in boardrooms to being in hazmat suits tearing out drywall was a lot,” she said. “There’s a learning curve to owning your own business.”Those early months were intense. “There was excitement and joy, but also stress, anxiety and sleepless nights,” Yobo said. “Now we’re in a place where we have our feet under us. We know how to do this really well, and we’ve established ourselves in the community.”<h2>Scaling With Confidence and With Each Other</h2>With momentum building, Yobo and Keyser have set ambitious goals for the year ahead. “One of our goals is to double revenue without expanding territories,” Yobo said. “There is a significant amount of work here in Florida. We may also expand into another service trade that complements the business.”Through it all, their partnership remains the foundation. “The only reason we’re where we are today is because my sister is a total boss,” Yobo said. “There’s something really powerful about not being alone. I trust my sister more than anybody in my life.”Yobo is candid about the pressure many women face, especially those balancing careers, families and leadership roles. “A lot of women right now are tired and burned out, both at home and at work,” she said. “We feel pressure to be great at everything.”For her and Keyser, the answer wasn’t doing more, but doing something&nbsp;different. “If we wanted something different, we had to do something different,” Yobo said. “That comes with taking a risk, and that can feel scary. We asked ourselves, what’s the worst that could happen? There’s a lot to learn and, like many first-year franchisees, the Carlsons experienced an uneven start. But, over the last year, the business found its footing.&nbsp;“There are a lot of ebbs and flows. But now we’re incredibly busy. You just ride it and keep going,” Keith said. “Last year was about learning the business: the job sites, people and processes. Now, we know the formula and we’re able to execute.”Keith drew on his background to develop relationships within the community, learning the operations and marketing sides. Jessica oversees areas like accounting, bookkeeping and financial planning. While largely behind the scenes, Jessica’s role has been critical. And that division of responsibility has enabled the couple to focus on their strengths while maintaining trust.&nbsp;Navigating the daily realities of running a franchise can be a lot. Having someone he can trust has proven invaluable for Keith. “We’re definitely in it together. Trust is key. And we’re lucky we have each other,” he said. “Her help with finances keeps me focused. She gives me the freedom to take ownership.”<h2>Building for Growth and Legacy</h2>As the new business continues to gain traction, the Carlsons remain focused on building sustainable growth that lasts. In 2026, the couple hopes to keep their current vehicle fully booked and build enough demand to justify adding another. They’re also looking to add staff, invest in equipment and expand overall capacity. But those steps serve a larger goal with an eye on the long game.The Carlsons’ long-term plan has grown to include their children, ages 11, 8 and 6.
