Here’s what he had to say.&nbsp;1851 Franchise: Frame your personal story for us.&nbsp;What did you do before franchising, and how did you decide franchising made sense for you?Steve Villa:&nbsp;I was in the commercial printing business for 28 years, which was entirely unrelated to the elder care industry. I had a friend who got into this business, and in talking with him, I became very interested. That’s when I started searching, and I accidentally found Frank Samson, founder of Senior Care Authority, before he started franchising. We talked, and he was training people to start their own businesses in this field. After meeting with him and learning more details about the business, I told him that I’d like to pursue it. I went through the training process, and he got me up and running. We stayed in contact regularly, and about two years later, he decided to franchise and asked if I’d like to be a part of it. That’s when I joined—nearly 10 years ago. I was one of the first to join.1851: What was your perception of franchising prior to becoming a franchisee, and what do you want people to know about franchising now that you are in it?Villa: I didn’t know much about franchising. I’d obviously heard about it from the big chains out there, but that was about it. I spoke with Frank in more detail about how Senior Care Authority was going to operate and the benefits I’d receive as part of the franchise. Having a support group and additional people around the country to collaborate with has been invaluable. We can work together, refer families to each other and support each other’s clients.&nbsp;1851:&nbsp;What made you pick this brand?&nbsp;Villa: I didn’t even consider other brands. My relationship with Frank and knowing what a genuine person he is gave me all the confidence I needed. I knew he would run a great company — he’s honest, upfront and deeply involved.
