Franchisee Voices: Kathryn Salley and Kenyon Wells of Right at Home

Kenyon Wells and Kathryn Salley followed their passion for senior care and helping the community when they signed on with Right at Home in South Carolina.

After meeting at their local church, Kenyon Wells and Kathryn Salley embarked on a shared journey to expand Right at Home* in South Carolina.

Growing up in upstate South Carolina, Kathryn obtained her bachelor’s degree in English and went on to establish a career in the corporate world. Directly out of school, she began her career in public relations and marketing. For five years, Kathryn excelled while also dabbling in real estate.

As an active member at NewSpring Church, Kathryn met Kenyon Wells at a fellowship event. After learning about Kathryn’s marketing skills, Kenyon offered her a job with his company, Biotronik, a medical device company. Initially, Kathryn was hired to organize and create structure, but was quickly moved into a management role focusing on big picture strategy. For the past four years, Kathryn has worked diligently to help grow Biotronik, but felt she needed to be doing something to give back to her community. 

Seeing that Kathryn had more potential and wanting to challenge her, Kenyon proposed the idea of going into business together. The two brainstormed to figure out how the two of them could continue working together professionally and how Kathryn could remain happy in her career. After discussing their passions and interests, Kathryn and Kenyon came to the conclusion that senior care was the way to go.

As Kathryn conducted research, she came across articles in Forbes and on Entrepreneur.com naming Right at Home as one of the top companies in the industry. The entrepreneurs decided they had found what they had been looking for and signed on to grow Right at Home throughout South Carolina.

How did you find out about Right at Home?
Kenyon and I knew we wanted to enter the senior care industry. While I was compiling research, I came across an article in Forbes, as well as on Entrepreneur.com, which highlighted Right at Home as one of the top-growing brands in the in-home care industry.

Why did you choose an opportunity with Right at Home?
Kenyon and I have a passion for the senior demographic because they are full of such wisdom and knowledge. I never knew what to do with my passion; when I came across Right at Home, I knew this is what I was called to do. The culture, support and expertise of the entire brand were amazing, and we really respected all of those qualities.

What personal experience do you have in your own family with caring for a senior?

One set of my grandparents are in their 90s and live with my aunt and uncle. I have seen how taxing it can be for the entire family; I knew my family always appreciated any additional help or guidance that could be offered. It is an honor to be a part of a company that gives back to so many families.
