Building Buzz: K9 Resorts Using Strong Development Momentum as it Closes Out 2017

Luxury Doggie Daycare and Pet Hotel Sets the Stage for Rapid Franchise Growth in 2018

It’s not often that a franchisor can say with confidence that their brand is poised to more than double in size in the coming year. But, K9 Resorts Daycare & Luxury Hotel founders Jason and Steven Parker believe so strongly in their growing brand’s expansion potential, that they are very comfortable making the claim.

And, the numbers back them up.

In 2017 alone, Americans spent an estimated $69.36 billion on their pets, according to the American Pet Products Association, and K9 Resorts is perfectly positioned to take advantage of that massive market. Founded on the Parker brothers’ passion for pets, K9 Resorts now has seven successful units open. With two new franchises sold in 2017, one location that opened in 2017, and several additional franchisee signings expected to close in early 2018, momentum has been building for some time. But, it wasn’t until K9 Resorts partnered with BrandONE earlier this year that the brand’s true development potential came to light.

BrandONE will work together with K9 Resorts as an outsourced arm of its franchise development process. Their extensive experience working with emerging franchisors like K9 Resorts who have a handful of units open and are on the cusp of rapid growth helps to hone in on qualified leads, then guides them through all of the specifics that come with operating a K9 Resorts location. After BrandONE is confident that a prospective franchisee is equipped with the tools and resources that they need to move to the next step, they’re invited to K9 Resorts’ discovery day where they have the opportunity to meet with the Parkers and other members of the brand’s leadership team.

“K9 Resorts is positioned for series growth in 2018,” said Jason Parker. “The pet care industry has seen double digit growth for the last 25 years in a row and there’s a unique draw to it from a business perspective because most dog owners are willing to spend to pamper their pets. We offer a boarding experience unlike anyone else in the segment, and that provides us with a strong competitive advantage through our franchise opportunity.”

That advantage is so strong that the Parkers are using it themselves. Plans are now being finalized to open a new corporately owned location in Bergen County, New Jersey in 2018.

“We’re continuing to put our money where our mouths are,” said Parker. “Our revenue potential is strong, as outlined in Item 19 of our Franchise Disclosure Document, so, to us, it’s a no-brainer to continue expanding our corporate presence. We plan to open a new corporate location each year through 2022, and I think that speaks volumes about the K9 Resorts brand. We are invested in the brand’s success right alongside our dedicated franchisees.”

K9 Resorts’ proven business model has resulted in a franchise opportunity like no other. The brand’s top tier, cage-free dog boarding facility has been a quick hit with consumers in each new market it’s entered, resulting in a rapidly growing emerging franchise system. K9 Resorts is now focused on specific target growth markets like Dallas, the Boston suburbs and major metro areas across Florida.

“2017 was a transformative year for K9 Resorts,” said Parker. “Onboarding with BrandONE is accelerating our growth prospects. We have an outsourced sales group that’s really building strong momentum. We have a great track record now of accelerating growth in a big way for our franchises, and we are very comfortable in saying that our plan is to sell 15 units in 2018. It may sound amazing to say we’re going to more than double in one year, but it’s a goal that’s very feasible and it’s what we expect from this new partnership with BrandONE. We are tremendously excited about our growth potential and the direction our brand is heading in 2018.”
