ABOUT LAWN SQUAD

Lawn Squad is a treatment-focused lawn care franchise that provides fertilization, weed control, aeration and overseeding, pest management and tree and shrub care for residential and commercial properties. The brand’s roots trace back to 2001, when founder Robert Palmer built the original Weed Pro business in Ohio. After years of refining the model and expanding into new markets, the company rebranded as Lawn Squad to support national growth under Authority Brands. Today, Lawn Squad offers a streamlined, technology-backed service platform positioned for recurring demand and seasonal scalability.

Lawn Squad entered franchising in 2023 and remains early in its lifecycle, giving new owners the advantage of wide-open territory, first-wave influence and a business built for simplicity. Entrepreneurs are increasingly looking for cleaner home-service models, and Lawn Squad’s treatment-only focus answers that demand. Development accelerated in 2024 and 2025 as owners recognized the benefits of recurring revenue, predictable seasonal volume and Authority Brands’ support infrastructure. With consolidation shaping the lawn care industry and large players acquiring competitors, the timing favors operators who want to secure prime markets before they close.

Lawn Squad separates itself by intentionally removing mowing, landscaping and installation work from the model. This creates faster service times, tighter route density, fewer equipment needs and a more predictable weekly schedule. The brand uses RealGreen software to manage routing, communication, billing and treatment tracking, while Authority Brands’ national call center handles scheduling, inquiries and estimates. Lawn Squad offers structured training, premium products, a satisfaction guarantee and a seasonal VitaminLawn program that drives subscription-based renewals. The support philosophy is coaching-driven, and the brand maintains a strong operational backbone despite its emerging status.

Lawn Squad has officially been named a 2025 Game Changer by Franchise Dictionary Magazine.

The lawn care category maintains strong long-term potential, driven by recurring service needs, homeowner demand and a growing national landscaping industry projected to reach nearly $200 billion. Recurring treatments, seasonal renewal cycles and steady residential and commercial demand create a resilient business environment for franchisees seeking a predictable home-service model.

The ideal Lawn Squad owner brings grit, accountability and a team-oriented mindset. Backgrounds vary, including home-service operators, landscaping professionals, Authority Brands portfolio owners and corporate professionals entering the industry for the first time. Candidates should be comfortable coaching teams, managing seasonal operations and leveraging technology-driven systems. While lawn care experience is helpful, it is not required, as the brand provides extensive classroom, guided virtual and hands-on training. Financially, candidates must meet the liquid capital and credit requirements outlined in the Franchise Disclosure Document.

Franchisees appreciate the model’s simplicity, clear systems and recurring revenue foundation. The treatment-only approach minimizes labor complexity and speeds up daily execution, while RealGreen software and Authority Brands’ call center reduce administrative burden. Owners also benefit from premium products, structured certifications, a strong training ladder and a peer network across Authority Brands’ 2,000+ franchisees. Many operators are drawn to Lawn Squad’s early-stage growth, which still offers large territories, system influence and the ability to scale without heavy overhead or operational complexity.

Executive Q&A with Rob Palmer, Founder & Brand President of The Lawn Squad

Over two decades ago, Robert Palmer founded Lawn Squad lawn care service near Cleveland, Ohio, growing and building his business for 22 years before partnering with Authority Brands to franchise it. Delivering lawn care services like fertilization, aeration, seeding, weed control and more, Lawn Squad now boasts more than 20 locations.

As a successful franchise owner, Palmer enjoyed the financial success, freedom and daily challenges of running the business he built, with the idea of franchising the model he created barely a fleeting thought. But responding to what he assumed was a random third party email opened up a world of possibilities that would shift not just Palmer’s approach to business but his entire idea of franchising.
