Long-Time IT Professional Fulfills Childhood Dream of Moving to the U.S. With New Fresh Coat Painters Franchise
After a successful IT career, much of which was spent in Barcelona, Jose Brucato saw an opportunity to fulfill his childhood dream.
Since childhood, Jose Brucato dreamed of coming to the U.S. After a long and storied career in IT, including time spent in the healthcare and petroleum industries, he began to think about making a change.
After learning of the Fresh Coat* Painters franchise and exploring the support available with the brand, he decided to make his childhood dream come true and invest. Earlier this year, Brucato began completing projects within his Raleigh, North Carolina, territory, and he is already thinking of the possibilities for the future — like reaching $1 million in revenue someday.
Brucato took the time to chat with 1851 Franchise to discuss his franchising journey with Fresh Coat Painters and his plans for the future. Here’s what he had to say:
1851 Franchise: Frame your personal story for us. What did you do before franchising, and how did you decide franchising made sense for you?
Jose Brucato: I have been working in IT across different sectors for a long time. I’ve worked in petroleum, healthcare and security, but it was always in the IT context.
When I was young, my vision was to come to the U.S. For different reasons throughout the years, I never had. But when I decided I wanted a change from my IT work, someone presented this opportunity. I saw an opportunity to move and invest in a business that would grow with me.
1851: What was your perception of franchising prior to becoming a franchisee, and what do you want people to know about franchising now that you are in it?
Brucato: There is a lot of support from the franchisor. They walk alongside you as you grow the business, and they’re there to help if you have questions.
1851: What made you pick this brand? What excites you most about this company?
Brucato: Fresh Coat Painters had a relatively low initial investment but very high levels of support. The economic models of the business are good, and I know I’ll have access to many coaches who have many years of experience. If I have a question, I know I can make one call and have the answer.
1851: What do you hope to achieve with your business? What are your plans for growth?
Brucato: Right now, I’m just getting started with this franchise. I’m most focused on starting strong and building the foundation for a great future. In the future, I hope to reach $1 million in sales and possibly invest in another territory or expand to another market.
1851: What is the one thing about your story you want us to know?
Brucato: My experience is in IT, not painting. But in IT, it was my job to grow and manage people and teams. Good people management skills work the same in every sector, and along with technical support from the franchisor, that is what’s going to allow me to deliver a great service.
1851: What advice do you have for other people thinking about becoming a franchise owner?
Brucato: The franchise model is generally the same across all brands — you are a part of something with a team that can give you support. Whether it’s landscaping, painting, repairs or otherwise, it’s important to make sure that you feel you will actually get that support before you begin. With Fresh Coat, I know that I have good support and access to a large team with lots of experience. In some of the other franchises I researched, I didn’t see these possibilities.
