Why These Mosquito Authority Franchisees & Franchise Consultants Chose to Invest in Poolwerx

Poolwerx’s unique service and retail model, combined with its focus on customer service and team development, make the brand a compelling addition to this duos’ franchise portfolio.

In the world of franchising, strategic decisions are often made to complement existing businesses and leverage synergies between various ventures. This is precisely the case for BJ Bacha and Ryan Hahn, seasoned franchisees with concepts that range from pest control to painting services, who recently decided to invest in Poolwerx, the fast-growing pool repair, maintenance and retail franchise, in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Following several years in the military and a stint in real estate, Bacha entered the franchising world. He is currently the co-owner of several franchise businesses, including The Mosquito Authority, EverLine Coatings and Services, Pest Authority and is a consultant with FranChoice. Hahn, Bacha’s partner, brings over 20 years of franchising experience to the table and is the co-owner in all of those franchise ventures. He also holds a corporate position in the manufacturing industry.

“Franchising is one of the areas in life where you can buy time,” Bacha said. “We’ve tried multiple times to get our own thing going, but franchising really provides that business in a box.”

As seasoned veterans in the franchising space, the duo knew that there was no shortage of options out there. But when looking for new ventures to expand their portfolio, Poolwerx stood out to Bacha and Hahn for several reasons.

"Poolwerx offers multiple revenue streams — the service and the retail component," Bacha said. “This dual revenue model distinguishes it from many other franchises in the pool industry.”

While the pool service industry may be growing, it is still largely populated by small, unbranded and independent businesses. Poolwerx, with its “hub and spoke” model combining service and retail, addresses the fragmentation in the industry. The comprehensive array of both services and products, from maintenance to retail sales, offers franchise partners a multitude of avenues within the pool industry.

Better yet, the Poolwerx model perfectly aligned with the duos’ Mosquito Authority franchise. “We are already in the backyard, so if homeowners have additional problems or if they have a pool, we can ultimately help them even more,” Bacha said. “We can cross-train our people, offer incentives for referrals and bring more value to the homeowner.”

The “hub and spoke” model also means the duo aren’t limited to just one piece of the booming pool industry. Offerings include preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, pool filter installation, green pool cleanup, hot tub/spa repair, pool heating, pool sand change, pool lighting, saltwater conversion and pool training, as well as a wide range of pool care products.

Beyond the business model, Hahn emphasized the importance of aligning with a brand that prioritized customer service and had a clear vision. “We believe in the people, understanding the franchisor team and their vision,” he said. “We loved the brand’s focus on customer service because we know from experience that is really what wins the game in the end.”

To ensure all franchise partners from all walks of life can be transformed into proficient pool care experts, Poolwerx provides extensive technical training, professional marketing support and a state-of-the-art training facility, with extensive training in water chemistry, hydrology and business processes. For existing business owners already in the pool industry looking to scale, Poolwerx also offers an easy conversion program.

Looking ahead, Bacha and Hahn have signed a three-unit deal in Charlotte and are excited to see what the future holds.

“We are thrilled to welcome BJ and Ryan to our team — they bring extensive experience in the franchising sector,” said Andrew Kidd, CEO of Poolwerx USA. “We are excited to support their growth and expansion in Charlotte and beyond.”

Poolwerx is looking for qualified franchisees like Bacha and Hahn to achieve U.S expansion of 120+ stores — including multi-site franchise partners with multiple locations — adding 30 new franchises annually in the U.S. The team has identified several markets primed for growth, including Texas (Houston, San Antonio and Austin), North Carolina, Georgia, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
