A number of owners were awarded for milestones this year, including&nbsp;<a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/scott-abernathy-mpm-rmp-gri-a9115718?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=pmi-celebrates-owners-in-the-growing-system-including-franchisee-of-the-year-2720553" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Scott Abernathy</a>, who was recognized as ‘Franchisee of the Year’ for all of his hard work and dedication to the brand as a business owner.“Being awarded ‘Franchisee of the Year’ was a huge honor,” Abernathy says. “I am a PMI cheerleader—no doubt about it. I sing PMI’s praises a lot because being a part of their system is so much better than when I was an independent property management company. The brand is the best name in the industry and offers immense support to owners. I couldn’t ask for a better organization.”Abernathy has had a lifelong interest in real estate and was always determined to succeed in the industry. He started his own company, Reliant Property Management, after working as a broker and property manager for organizations like Coldwell Banker and Prudential, but hit a wall after growing to about 250 units.&nbsp;“I realized I wasn't going to be able to grow anymore on my own. He recently added the short-term rental pillar, which he says is “taking off”, and has one commercial property he manages.&nbsp;&nbsp;“The short-term rental sector is growing really fast. You have to set resources and time aside to add a pillar, but it's definitely worth it. It brings multiple income streams and multiple opportunities, and it's very steady,” Abernathy explains.&nbsp;Abernathy has grown his portfolio to about 1,000 doors and has a staff of more than two dozen employees. He also acts as the Tennessee regional mentor for PMI, helping owners in the state get up and running and offering guidance and solutions along the way. The number of PMI franchisees in Tennessee has now doubled.Abernathy’s goal is to eventually double his operations to six locations. In the immediate future, he’s looking forward to becoming a Diamond-Level franchisee with seven figures in revenue for one location—a milestone he’s been “really close to hitting the last three years.With his impressive scaling over the years, Abernathy has played an integral role in the rapidly growing success of PMI.
