QSR: Why Chi’Lantro BBQ is Primed for the Next Level

The brand plans to expand to an additional two locations.

A Texas-based food truck offering a spin on Tex-Mex and Korean flavors has grown to include an additional five brick and mortar locations. According to QSR Magazine, Chi'Lantro plans to open a sixth location later this year and another in 2018.

Chi'Lantro is known for its Kimchi Fries, which became popular in Austin and eventually attracted the attention of South by Southwest festival patrons. According to the article, the restaurant continued to gain recognition when owner Jae Kim was featured on Shark Tank. Barbara Corcoran invested 600,000 in the brand, which Kim says was a validating experience.

The brand will expand with time and a focus on promoting from within. Kim said, "We’re very thoughtful in how we want to grow, and it’s not just building revenue in opening up restaurants, but it’s investing in our people so we can grow faster in the future."
