As the Chairman of the Senior Care Authority National Team for the Alzheimer's Association and an active leader in the fight against Alzheimer's, Flattau is using his platform to bring awareness, drive research and offer compassionate guidance to those who need it most.“I lost my paternal grandmother to dementia,” Flattau said. “I hadn’t gotten involved with the Alzheimer's Association until I started my SCA business. It was one of the first calls I made because I wanted to help as many people as I possibly could.”Flattau’s professional journey began with nearly three decades in corporate America, working in commercial real estate and financial services. But despite rising through the ranks in sales leadership at major banks, he felt a growing disconnect.&nbsp;“Corporate America was all about profit and what they could do to increase the bottom line,” he said. “I wanted to maintain and establish relationships — to actually help people.”That desire took on new urgency when Flattau became a caregiver to four family members over a span of just a few years. “It was a very difficult task, but I learned a lot caring for them,” he said. “I enjoyed seeing the relief on their faces when we solved problems. That’s what led me to senior care.”He launched his&nbsp;<a href="https://1851franchise.com/senior-care-authority/info">Senior Care Authority</a> business in 2018 and hasn’t looked back since. “It’s far surpassed any and all my expectations,” he said. “The best part of what I’m doing right now is the end result. On an almost daily basis, I hear from clients and families about how thankful they are.”That same&nbsp;<a href="https://1851franchise.com/senior-care-authority/a-passion-for-helping-others-what-it-takes-to-be-a-senior-care-authority-franchise-owner-2727151#stories">drive to make a difference</a> pushed him to get involved with the Alzheimer’s Association at the local level, volunteering for&nbsp;<a href="https://www.alz.org/walk?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=guiding-families-championing-hope-adam-flattaus-role-in-alzheimers-advocacy-2729630" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Walks to End Alzheimer’s</a> and eventually stepping into leadership roles.&nbsp;“I grew that into being the sponsorship chairperson for multiple walks on Long Island,” he said. “Then I became a board member, then vice chair, and then chairman for the board of advisors for the Long Island chapter.”In that time, Flattau has also mobilized the entire Senior Care Authority network around the cause. Under his leadership, the brand became a National Team supporting Alzheimer’s walks across the country. “We have involved just about every one of the franchisees to help with the cause,” he said. “Each of our franchisees puts together a concerted effort to help fundraise, organize and create awareness. We have a larger presence than most others do.”Flattau’s impact hasn’t gone unnoticed. In 2023,&nbsp;<a href="https://franchisebusinessreview.com/post/senior-care-authority-franchise-rock-star-loves-giving-back-to-his-community/?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=guiding-families-championing-hope-adam-flattaus-role-in-alzheimers-advocacy-2729630" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Franchise Business Review named him Rockstar Franchisee of the Year</a> for his philanthropic work. And within the Alzheimer’s Association, he’s widely recognized for his tireless efforts to advance research, improve testing and raise awareness.“This is not something any of us can do alone,” he said. “There are over 7 million people who are diagnosed with various dementias. So it’s very important to get out there and keep talking about it.”Flattau views his advocacy not just as volunteer work but as an extension of his role at Senior Care Authority. “It allows me to fulfill my initial goal, which was to be a beneficial piece of my business, to create and enhance my validity and my passion within the community, while also helping with a fantastic cause,” he said.His involvement continues to inspire others within the franchise system to find ways to give back, and he hopes even more people across the country will join the fight. “It’s extremely gratifying to be involved,” he said. “The Alzheimer’s Association has contributed so much — new medications, new testing, and a tremendous amount of awareness.
