St. Louis Business Journal: With demand for franchises high, Smoothie King opens more stores

Smoothie King, the New Orleans-area-based franchise company, is moving forward on its St. Louis expansion plans.

Smoothie King opened its first St. Louis-area location 15 years ago and today the franchise has 12 franchisees signed and 17 stores open in the area. In fact, St. Louis has become Smoothie King’s No. 1 area in terms of highest average sales volume.

“People were buying up franchises so quick we had to cut it off to allow everyone to catch up,” Franchise Development Manager Stephen Foley told the St. Louis Business Journal.

The chain’s latest St. Louis franchisees, Shawn Bradley and Nicole Farris, are opening three new locations in south St. Louis County. Franchisees and in-laws, Shawn Bradley and Nicole Farris will be opening Smoothie King franchises in Arnold, Affton and Oakville this summer. Bradley said the Oakville store, at 5634 Telegraph Road, is scheduled to open in early July, and he expects the other two stores, in Arnold and Affton, to open by spring 2016 at the latest. Their goal is for the stores to generate $500,000 to $700,000 in annual revenue, Bradley said.
