Speedy Patch Drywall Repair
EXECUTIVE Q&A
Speedy Patch Drywall Repair Executive Q&A: Christian Cagle, CEO and Co-founder
Tell us about the founding of Speedy Patch.
Cagle: I founded Speedy Patch with my son Evan in 2018. I had spent 15 years in public schools as a career-tech educator, and Evan was still in college at the time, but our family has deep roots in drywall repair. Evan is actually a fourth-generation drywall finisher in our family. We started the business to make some extra money, and at first, we were just helping family and friends around Columbus. Eventually, we put a little money into online digital advertising, and that’s when things took off. Four years later, we have several locations throughout the Midwest and are preparing to launch our first franchise territories.
What are Speedy Patch’s key differentiators from competitors?
Cagle: Our biggest differentiator is right there in our name — it’s our speed of service. When we first started this company, we researched what other brands were doing and immediately recognized a major opportunity to stand out. Most drywall repair brands will complete a single job over multiple trips, but that’s really not necessary. We can complete the vast majority of our jobs in a single visit, and we also schedule almost all of our jobs so they can be completed back-to-back in a single outing, which allows us to schedule more services and reduce our labor requirements. That allows us to charge less and earn more than our competitors.
Why is now the time to invest in Speedy Patch?
Cagle: After four years of growing our brand and refining our operational model, we are rolling out one of the best franchise opportunities in the home services industry, which is absolutely booming right now. Our model boasts one of the lowest startup costs in the segment, thanks to our streamlined operational model, and we’ve already proven the model’s growth potential. Our first franchise owners are going to have their pick of some of the most lucrative territories available — territories that have long been sold out for most other franchises. Of course, those territories won’t be available for very long, so aspiring Speedy Patch owners would do well to inquire as soon as possible.
What are Speedy Patch’s growth plans?
Cagle: Ultimately, we see Speedy Patch becoming the go-to name in drywall repair in markets all across the country, but we’re being very careful about where we grow first. We want to ensure that every step we take is a success, so we are starting our expansion by growing in concentric circles around our established locations. This year, we are focused primarily on establishing and supporting franchise locations throughout Ohio, including Cleveland, Akron and Dayton. Our franchise owners in Ohio will benefit from the strong brand recognition we’ve already cultivated throughout the state, plus immediate hands-on support from our corporate team.
