Individuals with a genuine heart for community. That&#8217;s how people describe Tommy and Aimee Skul. Together, the Skuls have opened multiple businesses in Arvada, Colorado, taken ownership of a nonprofit and continuously worked to give back to the city and make it a better place. So much so, in fact, that they helped him break the <a href="https://sportclips.1851franchise.com/?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=backed-by-sport-clips-support-new-franchisee-breaks-brands-grand-opening-record-5446" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Sport Clips</a> grand opening sales record in his first week; for the first time in Sport Clips history, Skul and his team exceeded their record! &#8220;From the very beginning we had set out to break a record. And in order to make it happen, we knew it would require a multi-layered approach. From recruitment and marketing to targeted social media campaigns and community involvement, Sport Clips gave us the guidance we needed to reach our goal,&#8221; Skul said. &#8220;Our team had everything we need to achieve great things.&#8221; Before the grand opening, the most important thing on Skul&#8217;s check list was a seemingly simple one&#8212;connect with his community on a personal level. This meant visiting local cosmetology schools and introducing himself to potential stylists and building sincere relationships. It also entailed reaching out to and partnering with the local Chamber of Commerce, youth organizations, service organizations and more. Skul even personally attended and sponsored as many sports tournaments, events and festivals around town as possible, where he would pop up the Sport Clips tent to help raise awareness about the brand and their mission to break the grand opening record. In total, Skul and his new Sport Clips location partnered with 17 different organizations. &#8220;Our community involvement was very entrenched. By partnering with different charities and organizations throughout town and making our grand opening goal known, everyone wanted to come into our salon to help make it happen. And in turn, we would make a donation back to their cause,&#8221; Skul said. &#8220;We had members of the local Kiwanis Club come in just to get a single hair cut just so they could say that they helped. It was incredible to see how much our community cares. It was a win-win situation&#8212;we&#8217;re giving back to our community and they&#8217;re driving the customers into our store. Everywhere someone has a funding shortage and everywhere someone will always need a haircut.&#8221; Skul believes that getting involved in your local community is crucial to success. It&#8217;s about getting out on the ground floor of it all and investing your blood, sweat and tears&#8212;not just your money. Skul is a man of his word, too. There&#8217;s a good chance if you visit his location in Colorado, you&#8217;ll see him sweeping the floors or checking in guests. Today, that hard work continues to pay off. Skul&#8217;s location recently broke the 500 client count. He has talented, passionate and dedicated team members. And customers throughout town can&#8217;t stop talking about the Sport Clips MVP experience. &#8220;The Sport Clips system&#8212;it just works. Whatever investment you put into it is exactly what you&#8217;re going to get out of it. I&#8217;ve told my team time and time again that if they put their passion to work, they&#8217;ll achieve amazing things. We&#8217;re all in this together, and together, we&#8217;ve been able to do just that&#8212;and this is just the beginning.&#8221;
