TechCrunch: Instagram Now Allows Businesses to Schedule Their Posts

The photo-sharing app’s latest announcement will save social media managers enormous amounts of time, letting them focus on strategy and adding more content.

Social media managers around the world are celebrating after Instagram’s latest announcement. According to a recent TechCrunch article, the photo-sharing app will now allow business profiles on Instagram to schedule their posts. Before this update, users had to post directly on their mobile phones or use tools that would send push notifications to your phone to remind you to post at that time.

Although the update is not available directly within the app just yet, it is being added to Instagram’s API. That way, social media software applications including Sprout Social, Hootsuite and SocialFlow are able to add the functionality—as well as any Facebook Marketing Partner or Instagram Partner.

“The scheduling and publishing of Instagram content has been the number one request for our 16 million customers,” said Hootsuite CEO Ryan Holmes, in a statement. “Now, they can manage large volumes of content, multiple team members and multiple Instagram accounts with ease and security. Hootsuite is excited to partner with Instagram to make this happen.”

The update—which is only available for business profiles to start–can assist brands that are trying to build a strong Instagram strategy and larger following. Those who are managing social media content and posting can save time by loading multiple posts for the day, week or month into a third-party application, leaving themselves more time for analyzing performance and engagement with followers.
