The Augusta Chronicles: Veteran-owned franchise businesses growing

Brands are noticing the benefits of hiring former military professionals.

Due to their leadership training and ability to stick to a plan, veterans are the perfect candidate for franchisee ownership according to The August Chronicle. The article went on to describe all of the qualities that make military personnel the perfect franchisee candidate, and brands are taking notice. 

“There is a full-force effort to recruit people with a military background,” said Anna Wilds, an Augusta-based franchise adviser with FranChoice and Air Force veteran. “Augusta is poised to have a disproportionate number of veteran-owned franchises. I could, without hesitancy, place 100 of them today. There’s that much opportunity.”

People who have active-duty military experience are 45 percent more likely to be self-employed according to the Small Business Administration. And Miracle Method franchisee Chris Tomblin and his wife are the perfect examples of leveraging their military background into a successful business.

“As far as what really transferred to this business, I would have to say it’s the leadership training and experience you get through the military,” said Tomblin.
