As a counsel with Lathrop GPM, a firm specializing in legal solutions for businesses, Erica Tokar advises franchisors on everything from state and federal regulatory compliance to drafting franchise disclosure documents and other distribution-related agreements. Much of Tokar’s work is dedicated to helping franchisors expand into international markets. Recently, she’s helped brands establish their first units in the Philippines, China, Mexico, Paraguay, Canada, India and Kuwait.
We spoke to Tokar to learn more about how she got into franchising, what she loves about the industry and the biggest legal hurdles she sees facing the industry in 2022.
