When Jeff Beck moved to Lakeville, Minnesota, he was worried about finding high-quality, delicious pizza. He may not have known it at the time, but that quest for the perfect pizza would eventually lead him down a career path with Toppers Pizza.

Beck opened his Lakeville Toppers Pizza franchise in February 2016, but he wasn’t always involved in the franchising industry. Before coming to Toppers, Beck was working in sales and most of that time was spent traveling. That aspect of his career was starting to wear on him, and he was looking for a new opportunity that would allow him to work closer to his family.

During one of his work trips, he discovered Toppers Pizza. He was entranced by the brand’s delicious food, unique approach to marketing and ability to make its customers feel like they are part of the Toppers family. He researched franchising opportunities with the brand and discovered the Lakeville territory was available for purchase. He believed this was a great opportunity not only for his family, but the community as well.

“Lakeville is a growing community, and I felt like there wasn’t an adequate pizza place for the residents. With Toppers, I’m happy to provide them with pizza that tastes great and is delivered fast,” Beck said. “I’m excited for Toppers to become a staple of the Lakeville community and making a positive impact.”

Toppers is the brainchild of President and Founder Scott Gittrich, who wanted to create an alternative to the corporate pizza chains. This aspiration has paid off in a big way. In 2015, 73 percent of all stores boasted record sales, boosting overall system-wide sales up 22.5 percent form 2014. The brand now has its sights set on strategic growth in 2016 with the help of its growing system of dedicated franchisees. To join the brand, prospective owners can expect their initial investment to range from $262,663 to $490,649.

Currently Beck only has one Toppers location, but would love to grow the brand. He said working with the brand and seeing their attitude towards business has made him feel like he is part of the family.

“The whole franchising process has been great so far and that is a testament to the team at Toppers. They have created an atmosphere that is welcoming and fun,” Beck said. “Their unrelenting strive for excellence makes them stand out from other pizza chains, and I can’t wait to grow with them.
