As families begin to eye their swimming pools for the warm months ahead, Poolwerx reinforces the significance of water safety through its community impact programs: April Pools Day and Learn2Swim Month. These initiatives not only spotlight the joy and health benefits swimming offers but also address the critical need for water safety awareness and skills to prevent drowning — according to the CDC, more children ages 1-4 die from drowning than any other cause of death except birth defects.

“At Poolwerx, our motto is 'for healthy pool people.' We firmly believe that in addition to providing clients with healthy pools, we have an opportunity to help families feel safe around their pools,” said CEO of Poolwerx USA, Andrew Kidd.

According to Total Aquatics Programming data, the summer months (May to August) account for two-thirds of annual childhood drowning incidents. April Pools Day and Learn2Swim Month (April 1 - April 30), are dedicated times to raise awareness and educate families about the inherent responsibilities and precautions that should be taken when owning a pool.

Poolwerx, a leader in the pool-service industry, hopes to change the harrowing statistics surrounding water safety through education and advocacy. That is why, kicking off with April Pools Day, and continuing throughout Learn2Swim Month, Poolwerx is teaming up with participating Goldfish Swim Schools to provide one trial swim lesson to children under 12.

Drowning can happen anywhere, at any time, to anyone, but there are several water safety tips to help reduce the risk and keep families safe this summer, Kidd says.

“Teaching your kids to swim, learning CPR and supervising them at all times are key ways you can reduce drowning risk,” said Kidd. “It’s also important to regularly check your pool surrounds to ensure pool gates, latches and fences are in working order and check that there are no objects around the fence perimeter.”

Overall, Poolwerx's commitment transcends beyond maintaining pristine pool conditions — it encompasses a holistic approach to ensuring families enjoy their swimming experiences safely and confidently. By emphasizing the health benefits and lifelong joy swimming offers, alongside rigorous safety education, Poolwerx positions itself as a guardian of both physical health and safety.

“Swimming is a healthy activity that can continue for a lifetime,” Kidd said. “As well as being fun, it’s a great way to keep fit; and the list of long-term health benefits of swimming is long. Swimming builds endurance, muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness. It helps you maintain a healthy weight, healthy heart and can improve sleep and relax both children and adults. We know that our customers don’t just value clear water, they value clean, healthy water. At Poolwerx, we pride ourselves on our expertise and always strive to give our customers the best and safest swimming conditions.”
