Kim Sellers and Linda Geiman spent the majority of their lives as stay-at-home moms, until their kids grew up and moved away. With plenty of newfound “free time,” the friends and former in-laws decided to foster their entrepreneurial sides. This year, the two ‘momtrepreneurs’ were able to realize their dream of owning and operating their own business together, opening the first MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes* in Texarkana, Texas. Sellers and Geiman first met as in-laws, but remained close friends after their children divorced. The team had their first taste of business ownership together when they started Geiman-Sellers Holdings LLC. The Geimans, however, aren’t new to the franchise industry, having owned a Subway location since 2009. With successful ownership under their belt, the Geimans decided to expand their business portfolio and develop in the restaurant segment by teaming up with the Sellers. “We chose MOOYAH because of the impressive choices and possibilities it presents to guests, and I was blown away with the product and the entire process during my initial introduction to the brand,” said Sellers. “We’re very excited to bring MOOYAH to our community of Texarkana and provide guests the highest quality of burgers in a fun experience from start to finish.” “When I ate at a MOOYAH, I was looking over the menu and was really excited about the healthful possibilities,” said Geiman. “I’m always looking for healthy ways to eat and what impressed me most about the menu is that you have the option to make healthy choices.” Sellers and Geiman signed a three-unit deal with MOOYAH and plan on having about 18 employees per location, leading them to spearhead the growth of the brand throughout the area. Both women have come a long way, and have had to drastically adapt to their new surroundings in order to make their business a success. “I started in the restaurant business knowing nothing because previously, I was just a house wife. Having to learn and adapt and build something from the ground up was a huge learning experience for me.” Sellers added. Burger enthusiasts in Texarkana now have something new to drool over, as Kim and Linda’s MOOYAH location is now open at a 2700 Richmond Rd. Suite #3 Texarkana, Texas, 75503. With 33 MOOYAH locations now open in Texas, the duo hopes to make their restaurant a Texarkana staple, bringing a delicious dining experience to families, friends and neighbors. Linda and Kim are an inspiration to momtrepreneurs all over, proving that with the right team and model, moms can indeed go from empty-nesters to entrepreneurs.
