Men In Kilts, the home services concept at nearly 50 units nationwide that handles tough-to-tackle cleaning jobs like gutter cleaning, house washing, window cleaning and more, is targeting the greater Tampa area for additional franchise growth.

“The biggest advantage to expanding in Florida is the year-round demand,” explained Rachel Southard, President of Emerging Brands. “Franchisees who open in Tampa will have very minimal downtime in their operations, whereas someone farther north may have to close down during the three coldest months of the year.”

Areas including Clearwater, St. Petersburg and Lutz are all prime targets as the brand works to add at least 10 additional units. With existing brand awareness in the state, continued economic growth and large populations of retirees and young professionals who are looking to outsource this work, Men In Kilts franchisees will be well-positioned to succeed.

“With year-round operations comes the opportunity for subscription services,” explained Alison Lair, Men In Kilts’ franchise development manager.

In addition to the Florida climate, which lends itself to comfortable outdoor work year-round, the geography of Tampa makes many of Men In Kilts’ services a “need to have” rather than a “nice to have.”

Due to the area’s proximity to the water, many Tampa-area residents consistently wash their windows and homes to prevent salt build-up, which can cloud windows and corrode building materials. The heat and humidity also encourage unwelcome algae growth.

In 2023, Men In Kilts is focusing its development efforts on the Sunbelt with intentions to drive year-round and subscription services while building additional brand awareness in the area. As more franchisees open locations in relatively close proximity, awareness skyrockets, decreasing franchisees’ cost per lead in marketing dollars.

“If your brand is already known in neighboring towns, you’re able to make an even bigger impact,” Lair said.

“Some of the home services we offer are crucial to the health of the home. Many customers are interested in maintaining their homes rather than dealing with the more serious consequences of corrosion or algae growth later on,” Southard added. “Exterior cleaning is an $8 billion industry with high demand. Especially in markets where owners can provide service year-round, this is a great opportunity for entrepreneurs looking to break into the industry.”

The total investment required to begin the operation of a Men In Kilts franchised business ranges from $157,290 to $191,950. This includes $38,000 that must be paid to the franchisor. For more information about Men In Kilts, visit https://meninkiltsfranchising.com/.
