When a retiring professional athlete looks for their next big opportunity, franchising can be a natural fit, according to a recent article by Forbes. Sports stars like Hank Aaron, Shaquille O’Neal and Max Montoya—the latter a Penn Station East Coast Subs franchisee—have found success in the industry.
“Athletes have been coached by others their entire lives, so the transition to being coached/trained by a franchisor is natural,” writes Forbes. “They are accustomed to learning the game plan and then going out and executing it. Many athletes are also natural leaders, and they take these qualities to the business field as they guide their employees and make important decisions about the franchise.”
