St. Cloud Times: Local Sylvan Learning Develops Virtual Tutoring for Distance Learning

Sylvan Learning transitions to live, 1-on-1 video tutoring sessions for its students.

According to a recent article in the St. Cloud Times, Sylvan Learning recently introduced a virtual tutoring option as school districts transition to distance learning during the coronavirus pandemic. St. Cloud’s Sylvan Learning franchisee Mike Kelley explains how tutors are online helping students in 1-on-1 video calls that are live, not automated.

"Our number one priority is keeping students educated no matter the circumstances," said Kelley. "We know it's hard to transition from the learning center to an online video call, but we want to make sure the student and the teacher can see each other during their session."

Not only is online learning a transition for students, but parents as well. Kelley’s biggest tip to parents during this time is to create a daily routine with your child so it seems like a normal school day.
