The Edwardsville Intelligencer: "New owners move tutorial franchise”

Local brother-sister team doubles square footage

Sylvan Learning franchisees Lenny Rakers and Misty Menossi are the new owners of a Sylvan Learning center in Edwardsville, Ill. With the transition in ownership, the pair also decided to move the center to a new location that allows for more room to grow the business.

“Our new facility is about double the square footage of what our previous facility was.  So that’s going to allow us to really add a lot more programs – courses, camps as well as have a lot more tables going for traditional tutoring," Menossi told The Edwardsville Intelligencer.

The sister-brother team grew up with Sylvan and are very familiar with the town, having lived in the area for several years and both graduating from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville. In coming years, they hope to build a reputation for a variety of STEM-focused programs and camps.

“I think sometimes that’s maybe the first impression that the community has that Sylvan probably is for just the child that’s struggling," Menossi told The Edwardsville Intelligencer.  "We’re going to be so much more with the coding, the robotics, the STEM, the engineering, the science program, the algebra, the geometry, study skills.”
