The Growth Coach, the world’s largest provider of affordable group coaching, training and workshops, gives entrepreneurs like David Yassa, owner of The Growth Coach in Portland, Oregon, the chance to help fellow entrepreneurs and business leaders achieve their goals. Now, following the COVID-19 pandemic, the demand for quality business coaching has never been higher, and The Growth Coach offers an exciting opportunity for qualified franchisees like Yassa to kick off their coaching career and follow their passion.

Yassa was born and raised in Egypt, graduating with a degree in engineering. From an early age, he says he learned that he “liked people way more than machines.”

“I liked the business side of the world way more than the technical side,” said Yassa. “I went to Saudi Arabia and joined a medical device company there as a technical support engineer, but I was mainly facing the sales team and clients. Eventually, I moved to Dubai and joined a medical device company as a product specialist for one of their divisions. 11 years later, I was director of marketing and sales, overseeing teams in five countries and managing $110 million in revenue.”

In 2014, Yassa received his MBA and graduated from business school with honors. “It was one of the best investments I ever made,” he said. “We moved to the U.S. in early 2019, and I kept working for the same company. When the pandemic hit, I was virtual and remote already, so it didn't affect me much.”

Around this time, Yassa says he was talking with one of his mentors, who asked him what his plan was for the future. “I predicted that the pandemic was here to stay and that people would need help pivoting to become better, stronger and faster,” he said. “That is what first got me interested in business coaching. I wanted to help more people do that. During that conversation, my mentor asked me why I thought I could be a good business coach, and I realized I had experience in nearly all aspects of business leadership.”

Only a week later, Yassa received a phone call from The Growth Coach telling him about the franchise opportunity. “To me, it was a godsend,” he said. “They checked my LinkedIn profile and thought I’d be a great fit. They couldn’t have picked a better time.”

Right away, Yassa said he was impressed with The Growth Coach model. “I didn't want to reinvent the wheel, which is why I looked into franchising to begin with,” he said. “They have everything ready for you — a great team, great systems, great business model. They also give you the flexibility to use those tools in the best way to fit your individual clients. You can walk them through that journey by leveraging the processes given to you by the franchise. You are the boss of yourself, and you choose who you want to work with and when.”

Yassa officially opened his Growth Coach business in August 2020. Since then, he says he has met a steadily growing demand for business coaching in his community of Portland.

“Every business today needs a coach,” he said. “The successful businesses always have a business coach by their side. There is a huge demand, so if you satisfy your clients, more clients will come.”

And since getting his first client in September 2020, Yassa says he has definitely brought some satisfaction. “One of my clients has grown their top line revenue three times in two years, net profit five times, and almost four times when it comes to their team size,” he said. “I see that pattern with lots of my clients, and that kind of success is addictive for both yourself and your clients.”

Looking ahead, The Growth Coach team is seeking passionate coaches and consultants like Yassa in markets across the country to join its network of franchise owners. Target markets the brand is currently eying for development include California, Texas and Colorado.

“The Growth Coach wants franchise owners who have a heart for business coaching, a desire to serve, and a willingness to guide business owners, managers, and salespeople to new heights of success,” said Strategic Franchising Systems President Chris Seman. “This is a franchise opportunity that provides a vital service to the business community in your territory in an industry that’s remarkably stable — and growing.”
