Cell Phone Store Owners Set Out on a New Mission to Help Seniors with TruBlue Home Service Ally Franchise
After years of owning local businesses, Connie and Kevin Mottle are launching their TruBlue franchise to provide trustworthy home care services for seniors and busy adults in the Highland Lakes
Connie and Kevin Mottle have deep roots in the Texas community of Marble Falls and the Highland Lakes area. After successfully running a cell phone store for 11 years and building a strong reputation in the area, the Mottles are embarking on a new venture with TruBlue Home Service Ally. Driven by personal experiences with their aging parents, they recognized the growing need for reliable home care services for seniors. Their TruBlue franchise, set to open on October 1st, will offer bonded, insured and background-checked services to busy adults and seniors, giving families peace of mind. With plans to involve their sons in the business and expand into other markets, the Mottles are dedicated to providing honest, professional care that the community can trust.
1851 spoke with the Mottles to learn more about their path to franchising, why they chose TruBlue and their plans for the future.
1851 Franchise: Frame your personal story for us. What did you do before franchising, and how did you decide franchising made sense for you?
Kevin Mottle: I’ve owned a couple of different businesses in the Hill Country, but I was looking for a home-based franchise that helps seniors. My previous businesses required a lot of time, and I wanted something that already had a structure in place, which TruBlue offered.
Connie Mottle: I was a stay-at-home mom, and after caring for my aging parents, it became clear that there was a real need for trustworthy services for the elderly. We considered starting something on our own, but during our research, we discovered that TruBlue was a great way to provide the services we were passionate about.
1851: What was your perception of franchising prior to becoming a franchisee, and what do you want people to know about franchising now that you are in it?
Kevin: I started my last two businesses from scratch, which took a lot of time and wasn’t necessarily my strength. TruBlue already has the structure and national presence, which made it a perfect fit for us.
Connie: The support TruBlue offers was very important to us. Knowing that there’s a system in place gives us confidence in our ability to grow the business.
1851: What made you pick this brand? What excites you most about this company?
Kevin: Talking to the people at TruBlue was very reassuring. They had everything we were looking for in a business.
Connie: It’s not just that TruBlue is nationally owned and operated; they’re also bonded, insured, and background-checked, which is crucial for providing trustworthy services. We also plan to market our services to realtors in the area as well as families and busy adults
1851: What do you hope to achieve with your business? What are your plans for growth?
Kevin: We want to grow the business and eventually include our boys so that when we retire, they can take over. We’re also looking to expand into other markets in the future. Our goal is to be known as trustworthy and reliable in the community.
1851: What is the one thing about your story you want us to know?
Connie: After owning a cell phone store for 11 years, we understand the importance of building trust within the community. We moved here from Austin 16 years ago and started our business from scratch, not knowing anyone. We made a name for ourselves as the only cell phone store in town, and now we want to give back by providing honest, professional and high-quality services — not just from us, but from our technicians as well.
1851: What advice do you have for other people thinking about becoming a franchise owner?
Kevin: We actually weren’t even looking for a franchise; we were just doing research and found the right fit with TruBlue. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and see if something is right for you. It was something we were praying about, and we knew it was the right thing to do when we saw it.
The total investment necessary to begin operation of a TruBlue franchise ranges from $65,050 to $91,400. This includes $44,900 that must be paid to the franchisor or an affiliate. For more information, please visit https://1851franchise.com/trubluehousecare/info.
