Rocket Fizz Soda Pop and Candy Shops is a franchise offering a variety of glass-bottled soda pops and retro candies. It is also a bottler of gourmet soda beverages, which it supplies to all Rocket Fizz franchisees for resale.

How Many Rocket Fizz Locations Are There?

Rocket Fizz was founded in 2007 by Robert Powells and Ryan Morgan, and began franchising in 2009. All of the Rocket Fizz stores throughout the United States and Canada are franchised, and are independently owned and operated. Today, there are approximately 90 locations.

In 2022, the franchise brought on Robert Campbell as vice president of franchise development. Campbell previously helped kids clothing brand Gymboree grow its reach and said he wanted to do the same at Rocket Fizz

“Operationally, they’re brutally strong, but on a franchise development standpoint, they’re not as strong,” Campbell told Franchise Times. “I’m the first person in their organization that really has a background in franchising, and it’s kind of fun.”

Campbell has since worked on a variety of projects at Rocket Fizz, including customer relationship management software, demographic studies and utilizing various funding mechanisms with third parties. One of his main focuses has been building up Rocket Fizz’s digital marketing in order to increase brand recognition.

What Is Rocket Fizz’s Business Model?

Rocket Fizz stores are known for their fresh, fun and one-of-a-kind atmosphere. Inventory combines nostalgic soda pops and candies with current licensed products. The business taps into the growing market demand for nostalgic products, creating an entertainment shopping experience in retro-themed stores that are designed to transport customers to the past. Rocket Fizz’s strong relationships within the supply chain give franchisees a large selection of products to offer customers.

Rocket Fizz offers strong support to its franchisees, providing them with training, guidance and a comprehensive operations strategy. Franchise owners receive assistance with site selection, lease negotiation, store design and build-out, as well as the initial inventory purchase. This support is designed to ensure that all new franchise owners have the tools they need to get started and effectively run their business.

The franchise encourages franchisees to eventually own more than one location, with many current franchisees being multi-unit operators. Once franchisees sign their lease, Rocket Fizz stores typically open in as few as 60 days to as many as 180 days.
