Marc Wiener has been in landscape architecture for the last 24 years. He wants to offer a completely unique service to Long Island and his clients: a landscaping company that designs, maintains and even offers pest control so residents can take full advantage of the backyards constructing. He’s been running his company, ALM Site Design, since 1999. He recently acquired his third Mosquito Joe* territory and intends to take his business all across the North Shore.

Tell us a little bit about your background.

I’ve spent the last 24 years in the landscape architecture industry and I’ve been a volunteer fireman for the last 15 years in the Commack Fire District. I have some experience investing in other companies and their products, including GLT (Green Living Tech), a company that grows medicinal cannabis through a unique vertical growing system. I was very much involved and we were growing for several pharmaceutical companies in the area. This was back in 2013. During this time, I was also running my own business day-to-day as a director of sales and construction in landscape architecture for my company ALM Site Design which I’ve been running since 1999. And now I’m onto Mosquito Joe.

I have a degree in landscape architecture from Syracuse University and another degree in forestry from my local State University of New York.

Why did you choose to become a franchisee with Mosquito Joe? How did you learn about the brand?

For about two-and-a-half years, I was looking for the right fit for me. My main goal is to become an absentee owner in the next five years. It’s just a great business model. I’m very familiar with landscaping and the backyards here in town and it will complement what I do. People are spending a lot of money on their backyards but they can’t enjoy them around here. I run ALM Site Design, and have since 1999. How many landscaping/design places can offer maintenance and a service like Mosquito Joe? This is another level of service I can provide after my design.

I’ve been doing this since the ‘80s and I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty.

What’s next for you and your business? Do you have any development/expansion plans with the brand?

I want to own the Gulf Coast of Long Island and the entire North Shore. I just acquired a third territory a couple of weeks ago.
