If hunger strikes and you’ve got less than $6 in your pocket, you can buy quite a few items off the McDonald’s dollar menu, grab two 7-layer burritos from Taco Bell or head to Subway for a six-inch sandwich, chips and a drink. While deals that feel more like steals are everywhere in fast food, Pizza Hut’s latest promotion is not one to be ignored. In celebration of the franchise’s 55th anniversary, it’s offering large, one-topping carry-out pizzas for the low price of $5.55. “The $5.55 anniversary deal is our way of thanking customers for helping us become the biggest pizza brand in the world,” Kurt Kane, the brand’s Chief Marketing Officer, said in a release. The deal will be offered at each and every Pizza Hut location, which comes to a grand total of more than 6,300 stores. The promotion surely signifies a move to compete with smaller pizza chains, such as Little Caesar’s ongoing $5 Hot-N-Ready deal and CiCi’s Pizza, which sometimes opens its buffet for only $5 a person. But with Pizza Hut’s deal running through June 15 and applying to pan, thin ‘n crispy or hand-tossed crust, the brand is sure to heat up its sales just as summer starts. If you have only $6 to spend on dinner, will it be on Pizza Hut while the deal lasts? What do you think is next for the brand? Let us know in the comments.
