As one of the top franchising opportunities in the hair care segment, Great Clips has demonstrated that its business model is effective, with over 4,400 salons in the U.S. and Canada.

Norm Sheppard signed on with Great Clips as a franchisee in December 2021 and, having found immediate success with the brand, is preparing to sign his second lease. He attributes his confidence in the brand to the franchisor’s ability to prepare franchise owners for success.

“Everything you are going to come across as a franchisee has been done before,” said Sheppard. “That means the franchisor can prepare you for nearly every possible scenario. There is an immense amount of training — they have courses for everything! No question was left unanswered.”

Beyond having an extensive database of training materials, Great Clips, Inc.’s various departments immediately made themselves available as soon as Sheppard bought his salon.

“When I became a franchisee, everyone reached out to me - the advertising team, operations, everyone. They wanted me to feel welcome and know that I was supported in every step I made with the brand.”

Sheppard knew he wanted to grow with the brand because of the positive work culture that flows through every Great Clips franchise.

“Great Clips has a team-oriented approach,” he said. “Everyone wants to see everyone else succeed. We don’t compete; we build each other up. That philosophy makes for an incredible culture.”

Moving forward, Sheppard wants to open more locations and ultimately hire a general manager to run the salons’ daily operations. He aims to build a legacy with the brand and be able to spend time with his family.

Thanks to the company’s fine-tuned business model, new salon owners can hit the ground running with Great Clips. The company still has substantial whitespace in markets across the country, allowing new and existing franchisees to meet demand in their home communities and beyond.

“With 40 years of momentum and experience, Great Clips is positioned to provide tremendous support to franchisees,” said Beth Nilssen, director of franchise development for Great Clips, Inc. “Challenges in the industry, like the pandemic and labor shortages, only strengthened our system and prepared us for the future. Now is an excellent time to join the Great Clips team and take advantage of all the resources we offer.”

The total investment to open a Great Clips salon ranges from $178,400–$376,900. For more information, visit https://www.greatclipsfranchise.com/.
