Hounds Town USA Hires David Martinelli as New VP of Marketing

As the doggy daycare brand looks to open 20 more stores in 2022 and sign on another 30 to 40 franchisees, Martinelli will build scalable marketing strategies to support the brand’s growth.

Hounds Town USA, the 25-plus-unit doggy daycare franchise, has hired David Martinelli as its new vice president of marketing. With more than 17 years of marketing experience for brands like McDonald’s, Qdoba and Smashburger, Martinelli’s proven track record and innovative growth mindset will provide a boost for the growing brand with ambitious goals for 2022 and beyond.

Martinelli’s hiring comes on the heels of a year of explosive growth for Hounds Town USA. In 2021, the brand signed 28 franchise agreements for 46 new units, opened six locations and celebrated the signing of its 100th territory. Now, the brand plans to open 45 stores in 2022, with the goal of signing on another 30 to 40 franchisees.

With such ambitious goals, bringing scalable marketing plans to allow for execution across a multitude of new store openings will be key, says Martinelli, as will innovating the media plan to account for such a large-scale opening goal. Here, knowing that 100% of the media spend is around digital media, he’ll lean into his digital marketing background to effectively manage budgets and develop a scalable marketing strategy.

“I’m very impressed with how much Hounds Town has done in the past year when it comes to marketing and building the brand,” said Martinelli. “Now, it’s a matter of scaling. The white space is so massive, and the openness to adopt new technology and find those efficiencies to be scalable is where I thrive.”

Hounds Town USA is growing its internal team to ensure it has the infrastructure in place to support both new and existing franchisees. This includes seven new hires in the past year, along with brand president Jackie Bondanza stepping into the CEO role in May 2021. Martinelli’s hiring represents another integral piece of the Hounds Town executive team puzzle.
