How Jollibee Blends Beloved Heritage With Modern Innovation to Power U.S. Growth
Vice President of Franchising Peter Wright discusses how brand DNA, product authenticity and strategic innovation keep Jollibee competitive.

For decades, Jollibee has built an emotional connection with fans worldwide. As the brand accelerates its U.S. growth, that emotional core hasn’t changed. What has evolved is how Jollibee delivers that experience to a broader, more diverse American audience.
The result is a brand that feels both deeply familiar and refreshingly modern — one that balances nostalgia with innovation to meet longtime fans and first-time guests exactly where they are.
“We’re very intentional about protecting what makes Jollibee special,” said Peter Wright, vice president of franchising. “At the same time, we’re always looking at innovation that enhances the guest experience.”
At the heart of Jollibee’s strategy is food, and more specifically, how innovation can complement its beloved core menu rather than distract from it. Signature items like Chickenjoy remain the anchor, while limited-time offerings and new products create excitement and invite repeat visits.
“Menu innovation is important,” Wright said. “A great example was a Fall 2025 collaboration with Katseye — it was a Korean BBQ menu. Our guests loved it and the results were great. Our team is always looking at ways we can offer new experiences.”
That process is highly collaborative and deliberately brand-first. “There’s a great team behind our menu innovation efforts, and the results are always delicious,” Wright said.
This approach aligns closely with broader U.S. consumer trends. American diners are increasingly drawn to global comfort foods, bold flavors and culturally authentic concepts, but they also expect consistency and familiarity. Jollibee’s ability to bridge those worlds has become a powerful differentiator as Filipino cuisine gains wider mainstream recognition.
It's not just the food Jollibee is modernizing; the brand is also rethinking how guests experience the restaurant when they walk through the door, all without losing that famous warmth and hospitality.
“We launched our loyalty program last year and have been very pleased with the customer signups,” Wright said. “We’ve also seen a positive impact on our sales.”
At the same time, the brand is investing in technology upgrades, including self-ordering kiosks, which is a move driven by both guest preference and operational efficiency.
“We are rolling out self-ordering kiosks in our stores and will complete that this year,” Wright said. “The convenience that these kiosks offer our customers has been very well received. It also expands throughput at the store level. It’s one of the ways our guests like to interact with us.”
These upgrades allow Jollibee to meet modern consumer expectations around speed, convenience and digital engagement, while still preserving the joyful, people-first service that defines the brand.
As Jollibee continues to grow its U.S. footprint, its strategy remains refreshingly focused: protect the emotional connection that made the brand iconic, and innovate thoughtfully to keep it relevant for the next generation of guests.
“We know why people love Jollibee,” Wright said. “Our job is to honor that, while continuing to evolve in ways that improve the experience for our customers and our franchise partners.”
