QSR Magazine: New Ways for Restaurants to Thrive in the Mall Food Court

Quick-service brands get creative with marketing mix to keep food court locations alive.

Foot traffic in the food court mall environment continues to dwindle and it has quick-service restaurants that rely on it thinking outside of the box to serve customers. According to a recent QSR Magazine article, quick-service restaurants that are finding the right mix between balancing their operations, product offerings and marketing are bringing success back to food courts.

Offering delivery is now a must for restaurant brands who want to reach customers that are binge-watching content at home instead of out shopping. Utilizing third-party delivery and technology, brands can be proactive in aligning with consumer behavior.

Loyalty and rewards programs are also still thriving but evolving based on the amount of time consumers spend on their phones. Apps can serve many functions including a way to order and collect points for rewards.

Lastly, quick-service brands that utilize social media channels in a social way—instead of simply pushing self-serving content to fans—will be rewarded across the board at all types of locations. Building a relationship with customers on social media provides the opportunity to send out an occasional deal or promotion and have customers react positively.
