Young Ones to Watch: Jonathan Weathington, CEO of Shuckin' Shack
1851 Franchise spoke with the young executive to learn about how he got into franchising, what advice he has for up-and-coming business owners and his views on how the industry is recovering from the pandemic.
Jonathan Weathington, CEO of the 16-unit seafood restaurant franchise Shuckin’ Shack, is no stranger to the world of franchising. His first job was as a seasonal packager and customer service associate at PostNet, a national packaging and shipping franchise. Eventually, he moved to the franchisor side after meeting the Shuckin' Shack founders and being asked to join the team in 2014.
In terms of what he’s come to love most about the franchising industry, Weathington says it is all about the support. “No one rides alone,” he said. “Franchisees have someone as their partner in the business venture who has a proven model, marketing and operations systems and brand presence. Franchisors have budding, eager entrepreneurial-minded people who love a brand. want to see it grow and be a part of that growth.”
For other young up-and-comers in the space, Weathington’s advice is simple: “The world is your oyster.”
