As a mom of three whose body “didn’t go back to its previous shape” after having kids, Maggie Wells wanted to make a change. There, Wells “struggled to find the same atmosphere and gym family. So my husband and I decided to open a gym here,” she said.&nbsp;After acquiring an existing gym last December and rebranding it into a Fitness Premier, her location is quickly coming up on a year in service. She has a smaller-scale gym in the town of Geneseo, Illinois, which has a population of about 6,000 and is near the Iowa border.&nbsp;“One of my favorite things about day-to-day operations is meeting with the people and seeing their progress. Member interaction is my specialty,” she said. “And most days, I oversee everything to ensure the gym atmosphere is healthy and to support the staff.”Wells is very grateful for her team, which consists of an assistant manager and personal trainer, a sales manager, and the gym manager Becky, who livens up the gym with her tutus, costumes and lively attitude.&nbsp;Wells also is grateful that the gym has such a community feel, with youth training available, so her kids can be there with her. The position has afforded her and her members a lot of flexibility. She hopes to be able to continue to build on that and open more locations in the area in the future.“Being two hours away from the closest Fitness Premiere allows for the opportunity to have many more future ones in the area. The brand offers platinum memberships where they can go to different locations, and we’d love to be able to offer that,” said Wells. “We also are happy to help employees that show interest in becoming an owner and show them how to open up a gym and grow the Fitness Premier community.”The total initial investment necessary to begin the operation of a Fitness Premier Club Model is $279,849 to $575,499, including a $39,999 franchise fee.
