Scoop Soldiers, the pet waste removal franchise which aims to help pet owners and their four-legged friends by taking on the dirty work of pet ownership, had a remarkable 2022. Savvy investors continued to recognize the well-positioned opportunity to capitalize on the growing demand for residential and commercial waste removal services. With a proven business model, lower-cost, multi-unit investment and wide-open territory availability, Scoop Soldiers has become a premier player in the growing “pooper scooper” services segment.

The franchise saw 30% revenue growth, as well as a 30% increase in customers during 2022. Additionally, Scoop Soldiers experienced 22 signings and 14 openings. Six new individual franchisees were added in 2022, bringing the total franchise count to 34, on top of 10 corporate locations operating in 10 states. On the corporate side, Scoop Soldiers opened in Nashville, Tennessee, as well as in Charlotte and Raleigh, North Carolina.

“2022 has been an exciting year for Scoop Soldiers, and we’re just getting started,” said EJ McCoy, Co-Founder of Scoop Soldiers. “If we’ve learned anything over the past several years, it's that people are still willing to invest in their pets and homes during times of economic uncertainty. The time has never been better to join the Scoop Soldiers system, and we are very excited about the next phase of growth.”

One of Scoop Soldiers’ most notable accomplishments of the year was ranking No. 3573 on Inc.’s annual Inc. 5000 list, the most prestigious ranking of the fastest-growing private companies in America. The list represents a one-of-a-kind look at the most successful companies within the economy’s most dynamic segment — its independent businesses.

“As a still-emerging franchise, we are thrilled to be recognized by Inc. this year,” said McCoy. “Ranking 61st in such a competitive field as consumer services is truly remarkable and is a testament to our team, our franchisees and our clients.”

As they continued to grow, Scoop Soldiers spent a lot of time investing in their franchisees this year. This included ensuring franchisees had access to sufficient equipment and inventory needed to run operations, such as business vehicles.

“Physical inventories have been down, and we've been very proactive,” said VP of Franchise Development Scott Oaks. “We were adamant about working with our local contacts and gave franchisees opportunities to acquire trucks from our own fleet if they were not available locally.”

Vehicles are just one example of how the brand supports franchisees. Scoop Soldiers provides its business owners with in-depth support in virtually every aspect of the business. For example, the brand offers daily billing and invoicing support so that franchisees can focus on communicating with clients, building a management team and finding employees who can provide customers with high-quality pet waste removal services.

It's this type of support that draws franchisees of all kinds to Scoop Soldiers — including veterans. In 2022, Brandon and Valerie Howe were among several veterans to invest with Scoop Soldiers. After having been interested in the franchising model for a while, the Howes signed a multi-unit agreement to serve the areas of Fort Worth and Roanoke, Texas.

“We wanted a service-based franchise that didn’t require a brick-and-mortar location. Scoop Soldiers made sense because we are dog owners and see the benefits of a service like this,” said Brandon Howe.

In further support of veterans, the franchise partnered with Valor Service Dogs, a non-profit organization based in Tampa, Florida, that aids wounded Veterans and first responders in rebuilding their independence through mobility assistance and PTSD support service dogs. Dogs are trained by the organization as emotional and physical support animals, and because many Veterans and first responders face mental and physical disabilities from their time serving, the Valor dogs are specifically trained to help their owners regain independence by helping with day-to-day tasks in and around the home.

Scoop Soldiers makes a monthly donation to the organization to sponsor service dogs for 20–24 months of training and boarding to prepare them for their forever home with a deserving military or first responder family. Once the dog is adopted, Scoop Soldiers also offers the family free pet waste removal services for life. This year, the brand was able to graduate two Valor Service dogs to their forever homes.

With the global market for pet-related services expected to reach $350 billion by 2027, Scoop Soldiers is not slowing down anytime soon. Looking ahead to 2023, the brand is planning to target another 30 additional franchise territories, either through existing or new franchisees and is targeting an additional five to six new markets, including in Seattle, DC, North Carolina and Salt Lake City, Utah.

“The demand for services in pet waste removal has significantly increased —  people want their time back,” said McCoy. “People are putting a value on time like I’ve never seen before, and the Scoop Soldiers team is ready to reach even more customers so they can spend time with their family and friends.”

The total cost to invest in Scoop Soldiers ranges from $61,300 to $111,300 per territory. To learn more about franchising with Scoop Soldiers, visit https://scoopsoldiersfranchise.com/.
