The Longhorn state loves “smoothies with a purpose.”

The Smoothie King franchise opened a new location earlier this month in Pearland, Texas.

Dave McMahon and Bill Roberton, the new location’s owners, own 25 other locations in the Houston area. Within the next two years, they’ll continue to expand and open another 13 locations.

Business continues to grow for the pair because customers are attracted to Smoothie King’s health-conscious smoothies made from fruits, vegetables and nuts. They also offer vegan drinks and vitamin supplements if customers are interested in adding them to their orders.

In an interview with the Houston Chronicle, McMahon said, “I think people are starting to think a little bit more healthful. You see it when all of the other major fast-food chains start putting salads and chicken breast items on their menus. You can see the tide turning.”

With Houston leading the charge as one of Smoothie King’s top markets, the franchise will continue to aim for a growth rate of two locations per week in 2015.
