November is a month when we as a country take the time to honor our veteran heroes with Veterans Day celebrations around the nation. During this month, Sport Clips Haircuts would like to share and promote the incredible work these organizations are doing in the lives of our veterans. 

With an estimated 21.8 million veterans in the United States and another 1.2 million actively serving, veteran organizations serve a tremendous community.&nbsp; The following organizations and programs are benefiting and enriching the lives of service men and women and veterans &ndash; from those actively serving to World War II veterans. These groups are making a difference in the lives of those who have given so much for our country and Sport Clips is proud to support their efforts. 

VFW&rsquo;s &ldquo;Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship&rdquo; program

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) is the largest and oldest war veterans service organization in the country, fighting for veterans, service members and their families since 1899. Comprised of veterans and military service members from every branch of the United State Armed Forces the VFW&rsquo;s contributions to veterans are vast. In 2007, Sport Clips partnered with the VFW to launch their Help a Hero campaign which is the haircutting brand&rsquo;s most recognized philanthropic program.&nbsp; As the Official Haircutter of the VFW, the brand has donated $5 million since the beginning of their affiliation. 

Honor Flight Network&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 

Another cause the brand admires and will further highlight this month is the Honor Flight Network (HFN). This non-profit organization provides travel for America&rsquo;s veterans to Washington D.C. to visit memorials dedicated to honoring the sacrifice they and their fellow service members have made. With top priority given to senior veterans, World War II survivors and terminally ill veterans, HFN is doing their best to ensure time doesn&rsquo;t run out to express thanks to these heroes. Since 2016, HFN has provided flights for almost 21,000 veterans, with more than 27,000 currently on a waiting list. 

Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation

The mission of Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation is &ldquo;giving back to those who have given.&rdquo;&nbsp; The Dream Flights offer senior military veterans, particularly those living in long-term care communities, with a unique opportunity. The flights take veterans and veteran spouses up for a nostalgic ride in a Boeing Stearman biplane, the same aircraft used to train many military aviators in the 1940s. 

VetFran

VetFran was founded by the late Don Dwyer Sr., founder of the Dwyer Group, who started the organization during the first Gulf War in 1991. The intent was to help veterans become franchise small business owners through financial incentives from franchisors.&nbsp; Today the network has more than 650 franchise systems and has helped more than 6,500 servicemen and women. Sport Clips is a member of VetFran, and currently has 51 veterans, with a combined total of 195 stores, in their franchise system. 

Sport Clips&rsquo; founder and CEO, Gordon Logan, is a U.S. Air Force veteran and sees the tremendous attributes retired service members bring with them to the workforce. He explains, &ldquo;My service as an Aircraft Commander in the U.S. Air Force helped me develop the leadership skills needed to run a successful business. Leadership, team building, and the discipline of executing a proven plan of action are attributes that translate exceptionally well from the military to the business world. It is extremely rewarding to me [now] as a CEO to help military veterans take advantage of the opportunities franchising has to offer. As business owners and employers, veterans understand the value of teamwork, reliability and accountability, and successful mission accomplishment.&rdquo;
