Walmart and Burger King Partner to Benefit Customers, Boost Traffic

The major retailer is now including exclusive discounts at the burger franchise as another perk in its annual subscription service in an effort to boost revenue for both brands.

As inflation continues to drive costs up and push consumers toward more financially conscious spending habits, brands are teaming up to catch buyers’ attention and do what they can to capture a fair share of the wallet. 

Many franchise brands will launch limited-time offers or partner with celebrities, but Burger King is taking a different approach. Recently, the burger franchise announced a new collaboration with Walmart, the major retailer with over 5,200 units across the U.S. Now, as part of its Walmart+ membership subscription, consumers will receive a 25% discount on all food ordered via the app at Burger King locations.

“Burger King has long been known for offering Guests high-quality products for a great value – an approach that’s shared by our friends at Walmart, making this partnership a natural fit,” said Pat O’Toole, chief marketing officer for Burger King North America. “We’re thrilled to join the Walmart+ program as its first-ever dining partner and look forward to providing members of Walmart+ even more savings on their flame-grilled favorites at Burger King.”

At $12.95 per month or $98 per year, the Walmart+ subscription already offers some key benefits for busy families, including auto care, fuel savings and free same-day delivery. Now, for consumers who are already fanatic Burger King diners, the value proposition is even stronger. 

While McDonald’s and Subway restaurants previously secured their spots in the entryways of Walmart locations nationwide, that presence seems to have dwindled as many franchise brands have shifted toward limited-time offers and a position in the celebrity spotlight. Now, the retailer is unlocking a new era of franchise partnership in a form more tailored to the demands of today’s consumers — when, where and how they want it.
