FAIRVIEW, KS – A&W Restaurants, the classic American franchise, is coming to Fairview at 801 W 1st St Fairview, KS 66425 on January 23rd. With 25 years of experience in the trucking industry, Bud Keim and his father know how important it is to have a clean, warm place with good food to stop on the road. The father-son duo is geared up to open Fairview’s first A&W, with plans to expand to add two additional locations.

The Keims have been in the trucking industry their whole life. Stan Keim bought the company from his father in 1997 and Bud has been part of it since he can remember. The father-son duo wanted to have a reliable location for truck drivers to rest and eat, which is when they decided to open their first independent truck stop in Wellsville called Berts Travel Center, their first, family-owned truck stop.

Now, the Keims are excited to open their second Bert’s Travel Center, this time with an A&W attached to it, bringing back this classic franchise into the community again. Bud remembers driving to A&W with his family as a child and has heard many people in the community with great memories of the fast-food restaurant.

All these areas around us are rural and A&W brings back that nostalgia as there used to be one in Sabetha back in the day,” said Bud Keim. “Many people in the local community have told me that they had their first dates there.”

The Keims’ plan to expand in Kansas and are looking to add two additional A&W locations in the area.

“We believe Kansas has the capacity to house several more additional successful restaurants. We are excited about our new franchise partner and that we have been able to help him achieve his dream of opening multiple A&W restaurants,” said John Palumbo, A&W’s Senior Director of Franchise Development. “For over 100 years the A&W brand has resonated with so many Americans across this great country and Addison is no different. This is only the tip of the Root Beer Float for A&W in Kansas!”

The new Fairview location is part of A&W’s plan to award 20 units to franchisees in 2023 and open 10 new locations. A&W is looking to target both new and existing markets including additional Midwest states like Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin, but also North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida and Nevada.
