<a href="http://checkersfranchising.com/?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=the-independent-florida-alligator-checkers-rallys-location-near-university-of-florida-to-get-contemporary-makeover-8391" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Checkers &amp; Rally&#39;s </a>restaurant, a fixture near UF&#39;s campus for over 20 years, is getting a makeover. The location is the first in the country to go through a renovation as part of the brand&#39;s reimaging.

&ldquo;What we are trying to do is make the building more contemporary,&rdquo; said Jennifer Durham, the <a href="http://checkers.1851franchise.com/?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=the-independent-florida-alligator-checkers-rallys-location-near-university-of-florida-to-get-contemporary-makeover-8391" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Checkers</a> chief development officer and senior vice president in an interview with the publication.

The $150,000 project will add LED lighting, a new roof, parking lot repainting, and will eliminate one of the drive-thrus.&nbsp;

The project will take several weeks, but the restaurant will remain open for the majority of that time. Durham, a UF alumna herself, remembers biking to the Checkers for fries while attending school there and is excited to see the restaurant get an update.
