Code Ninjas is a child-focused educational program that teaches kids a variety of subjects such as computer programming, coding, math, logic and teamwork. Its curriculum also teaches kids to code using well-known industry games: Minecraft and Roblox.
How Many Code Ninjas Locations Are There?
Code Ninjas was founded in 2016 by computer programmer David Graham in Pearland, Texas. Graham had previously started another business called Coder Camps, which was a program that taught adults how to be successful software developers. After becoming a father, Graham realized that he should turn his efforts toward providing quality coding programs for children. By starting early, coding can teach children valuable life skills, such as logical thinking, resourcefulness and problem solving. So, Graham adapted what he had built with Coder Camps and made it more kid-friendly with the creation of Code Ninjas, a program that taught coding lessons through video game development.
The concept was a hit, and Graham started franchising Code Ninjas in 2017. In just one year, the company expanded to include 25 centers open and over 225 more in development. Today, there are 243 Code Ninjas locations around the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
The 2023 Franchise 500 ranked Code Ninjas as No. 316, up 178 spots from the brand's ranking the year previous.
What Is the Code Ninjas Business Model?
Code Ninjas franchisees operate from a fixed retail location, ranging from 1,200 to 2,400 square feet. From there, they will offer a proprietary curriculum that teaches kids to code by building video games they love in a fun, safe and inspiring environment.
Code Ninjas franchisees can also add an optional Dojo2Go mobile “edutainment” trailer to their franchise. “Dojo2Go” enables franchisees to “host external gaming events and parties for schools, businesses and other events within their respective territory.”
How Much Can Code Ninjas Franchise Owners Make?
Code Ninjas Holdings LLC does not disclose any individual retail location sales in Item 19 of their Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD). However, if you are purchasing an existing outlet, the company may provide you with the actual financial records of that outlet.
How Much Does It Cost to Open a Code Ninjas?
The estimated total investment necessary to begin operation of a Code Ninja franchise ranges from $181,367 to $457,850. You also have the option to pay an additional $80,000 to $100,000 if you choose to add an optional Dojo2Go mobile “edutainment” trailer to your franchise.
