Papa Murphy's Becomes First National Pizza Brand to Remove Antibiotics from Chicken

As demand for healthier and more wholesome food grows, Papa Murphy's made a move to provide customers exactly what they want.

These days, consumers throughout the United States are becoming increasingly obsessed with health.

This growing trend has prompted a sweeping movement in large restaurant chains, and it’s inspiring them to clean up their menus and shift toward all-natural foods. That’s why, this summer, Papa Murphy’s announced that absolutely all of its 1,500-plus locations nationwide are serving chicken raised without antibiotics across its entire menu.

While restaurants throughout the country have talked about serving chicken raised without antibiotics, few to date have actually done it. Papa Murphy’s is the first national pizza brand to serve chicken raised without antibiotics.

“Introducing chicken raised without antibiotics to our menu is a natural step for our brand, and we are excited to offer customers delicious, vegetarian-fed chicken that they can feel good about serving their families,” said Brandon Solano, chief marketing officer for Papa Murphy’s.

To celebrate being the first and only national pizza brand to take this important step, Papa Murphy’s Chicken Bacon Artichoke Gourmet Delite pizza will be available online for only $9 through August 14.

At Papa Murphy’s, food quality has always been an integral part of the brand’s heritage, concept and overall culinary strategy that centers on exceptionally fresh ingredients. In fact, in the brand’s 35-year history they have solved the elusive value equation by limiting the expensive overhead that drives other chain’s costs, maintaining low prices while serving only the highest-quality ingredients. Besides antibiotic-free chicken, ingredients include 100 percent whole-milk mozzarella grated in-store every day, butcher-quality meat with no added fillers and fresh, whole vegetables that are hand-sliced daily.

In January 2016, Papa Murphy’s was recognized for its dedication to serving superior ingredients over other pizza chains when it was named best in food quality among quick-serve restaurants by Technomic. The brand beat out 138 other restaurants—and 11 pizza brands—to earn the top spot.

In the years to come, as part of the company’s dedication to food quality, Papa Murphy’s is also moving to eliminate artificial flavors and colors from menus by next year and phase out palm oil and high-fructose corn syrup by this fall.
